Dune Themed Necromunda Gang WIP (Necromunda):

Image
Dune Themed Necromunda Gang WIP (Necromunda): House Van Saar I decided to make a custom themed Fremen themed gang for Necromunda. With Maud'dib as the leader, and complete with everyone in the list having a combat knife and respirator to represent crysknives and still suits. These models were made from a Skitari box and a Wytches box. The Wytches bodies looked a lot like still suits and I like that there are both male and female bodies in that box. And the capes, hoods, and parts of the guns were taken from the Skitari box as well. Here is the base of the Fremen. Wytch body with Skitari head: The cloaks are from the Skitari box, and the body and cloak is all one piece. So the body had to be removed from the cloak. Three stages for each cloak: 1. Fresh of the sprue 2. Body carved out and removed 3. Removal area smoothed out, and notches carved in where it will attach to the shoulders Here is a more clear view of the notch in the cloak. I play...

Gargantuan Squiggoth WIP(40K)

Image
Gargantuan Squiggoth (40k): The Gargantuan Squiggoth is probably one of my favorite Ork models ever designed. The thing is about the size of a cinder block, and weighs about as much as it is solid resin.  Here is the parts for the whole kit all laid out. Test fitting the Howda'... I unfortunately can't find a photo of it.. but the head and tail had to be pinned, and the model is so big that I had to use coat hangers instead of paper clips to pin it! I finally had an excuse to set up and try out airbrushing and it was a lot of fun. Here are the base colors laid out. Side View: Front View: Adding details and rust on the armor, to match the rusty purple paint scheme to match with the rest of my 40k Ork army. I have to go into painting the howda' and hand painting the rest of the Gargantuan Squiggoth next. It is quite difficult to handle and manipulate this model, and I must admit that I get some serious fatigue while trying to...

Hired Swords (Malifaux)

Image
This is the start to my Hired Swords Gang for Malifaux. I really like the lampost pack that Wyrd put out, and it really adds to these modes. And it makes them easier to pick up without breaking the minis! I still have a lot more to do on most of these minis but just wanted to show off what has been done so far. The Malifaux models all look great and are fun to paint, but man are they a pain to build.

Mazdamundi (AoS)

Image
Mazdamundi (AoS): Well this was quite a project: I estimate it was a week or two building, two or three weeks painting, and another week for the base. But Its probably the project I'm the most proud of so far. Even though he is dead in the lore of AoS, he lives on in my heart and my lizardmen army as the centerpiece model.  "Mazdamundi, Lord of the Solor-City is the oldest and most powerful of the living Slann Mage-Priests and the current ruler of Hexoatl, the City of the Sun" He has a barrel of grubs ready to be consumed from his throne. "Mazdamundi always carries with him a gourd containing a handful of dried Itxl Grubs. These are very potent magical grubs which absorb raw magical power from the ground. When tha Mage-Lord eats the grubs, he gains the magical energy contained within them. He has to eat the whole gourd-full of grubs to gain a significant effect on his own magical powers" I gave him a Magmadroth instead of a Stegadon, as I t...

Chaos Dwarfs (Bloodbowl)

Image
Chaos Dwarfs (Bloodbowl): While the made to order Bloodbowl teams are quite good looking, as usual, I wanted my Bloodbowl team to stand out and be different from the rest. For the base of the team I used  Vulkite Berserkers, adding a skull to each of their belts in place of runes. I sculpted bars to go across their faces to make their regular helmets look more like old school face masks on football helmets, as well as a pair of shoulder pads for each of them.  I also replaced their normal shields with shields from Vampire Counts and Skeleton warriors to keep the death motif going. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Forgeworld Exclusive Chaos Dwarf to make into a star player and/or team captain.  For the paint job I tried to go with the ashen skin, and hair like fire. Also you can see on the bottom right of this photo a passer. Dwarfs don't have a passer, but it was too good of an opportunity to pass up with that horn. ...

Dr. Ro'Grot-Nid (40k)

Image
Dr. Ro'Grot-Nid: He's no Eggman, just a crazy grot with an idea... an idea to loot a Tyranid Hive Tyrant! I kind of wanted to paint a Tyranid model, but don't have a Tyranid army, or the desire to paint 1,000 gaunts so I decided to loot an old metal Hive Tyrant model to count as a Deff Dread for my 40k ork army.  The platform on the Hive Tyrants back was made from scoring a piece of plasticard (GW gift card) and pieces of a chopstick for the foot platforms. The ropes were made from pieces of wire that the grots have used to try to gain control of the Hive Tyrant.  Here the Doc can be seen in all of his Glory! I added some more grots around the base of the model, to try to also act like wranglers, or a snack. Since my Ork army is purple themed I thought it would be fun to paint the Hive Tyrant purple instead of the grots armor and clothes. To add to the vignette that is this model, I gave the rear grot a whip so that he could be coaxing the ...

Objective Markers (Dystopian Legions)

Image
Six Objective Markers for Dystopian Legions: Although Spartan Games is no longer with us these objective markers are really cool, and will still be utilized in other games. 1. The Flag: Well the army that surrendered and left their flag on the ground to be soiled had to be French of course! 2. The Officers Pack: This was a fun objective to paint, with red velvet on the inside of the case, with a revolver, other supplies, and a map with some free hand details. 3. Generator: At least I think its a generator, although I suppose it could be any sort of machinery or technology for an objective. 4. Hatch/Bunker: While simple this is still one of my favorite objectives, it marks the entrance to a bunker or base. 5. Ammo Cache: A collection of hand grenades, dynamite, and ammo boxes. 6. Fuel Depot: 55 gallon drums and Jerry cans. War can't be fought without fuel!
