Gargantuan Squiggoth WIP(40K)

Gargantuan Squiggoth (40k): The Gargantuan Squiggoth is probably one of my favorite Ork models ever designed. The thing is about the size of a cinder block, and weighs about as much as it is solid resin.  Here is the parts for the whole kit all laid out. Test fitting the Howda'... I unfortunately can't find a photo of it.. but the head and tail had to be pinned, and the model is so big that I had to use coat hangers instead of paper clips to pin it! I finally had an excuse to set up and try out airbrushing and it was a lot of fun. Here are the base colors laid out. Side View: Front View: Adding details and rust on the armor, to match the rusty purple paint scheme to match with the rest of my 40k Ork army. I have to go into painting the howda' and hand painting the rest of the Gargantuan Squiggoth next. It is quite difficult to handle and manipulate this model, and I must admit that I get some serious fatigue while trying to...

Dr. Ro'Grot-Nid (40k)

Dr. Ro'Grot-Nid: He's no Eggman, just a crazy grot with an idea... an idea to loot a Tyranid Hive Tyrant! I kind of wanted to paint a Tyranid model, but don't have a Tyranid army, or the desire to paint 1,000 gaunts so I decided to loot an old metal Hive Tyrant model to count as a Deff Dread for my 40k ork army.  The platform on the Hive Tyrants back was made from scoring a piece of plasticard (GW gift card) and pieces of a chopstick for the foot platforms. The ropes were made from pieces of wire that the grots have used to try to gain control of the Hive Tyrant.  Here the Doc can be seen in all of his Glory! I added some more grots around the base of the model, to try to also act like wranglers, or a snack. Since my Ork army is purple themed I thought it would be fun to paint the Hive Tyrant purple instead of the grots armor and clothes. To add to the vignette that is this model, I gave the rear grot a whip so that he could be coaxing the ...

Ork Fighter and Biplane Construction & Priming (40k)

Ork Fighter and Biplane Construction & Priming: I decided to build some wacky ork planes for 40k, and wanted them to be different from the regular Dakka-Jet and Blitza Bomber kits. These planes were created using two Dakka-Jet/Blitza Bomber kits, parts from a Stormraven Gunship, and various materials.  I knew that for the bomber I wanted to go with an older biplane design, so for the fighter I decided to go with a more futuristic design. Looking for something more similar to a sci-fi plane than something from WWI.  I drew inspiration for the design mainly from Star Wars classic X-Wing Design for the fins, as well as the overall shape of the fighter from the N-1 Starfighter design. Here is the what the begining shape of the fighter looked like. I liked the shape of the Stormraven Gunship's wings when mounted backwards, and reversed the engines. As well as bolted some dakka over the ailerons, with the additional fins added to give the sligh...
